About us

about

Boyer & Seeley, Inc. was founded in 1944 by Floyd Boyer. In the late 1940s, Merrill Seeley became Boyer's business partner. They operated as a partnership for a number of years. Eventually, in April 1960, the company was incorporated as Boyer & Seeley, Inc.

In 1975, Howard Jansen joined the firm and eventually bought the company. Merrill Seeley remained active in the company until about 1983. Howard, a mechanical engineer with a degree from M.I.T., continued to operate the company as majority shareholder.

In 1986, Howard sold the company to Craig Garrett and Paul Owen. Originally there was a third partner who left the company in about 1999. Howard continued as a full-time employee of the company for many years after he sold his stock and he remains to this date as a valued consultant and part-time employee of the company. In 2005, Garrett bought out Owen and now owns 100% of the corporation. Owen continues as an employee of the corporation.

For the first forty-two years of operation, the company was strictly a pump company. They represented pump lines that went into building trades, water & wastewater treatment, mining, and other industrial applications. The first product that the company began representing in about 1944 was Weil Pump Co. of Chicago, IL. Today, after more than 60 years, Boyer & Seeley remains one of the top distributors in the country for Weil Pumps (now of Cedarburg, WI). The company also maintains a long-term association (approximately 30 years) with Floway Pumps (Originally Peabody Floway and now Weir Floway).

In 1987, the new owners decided to start a second business thrust and began what was originally called the Process Division. This Division concentrated initially on process equipment for the coal-fired power industry. Over the past 18 years this has expanded into coverage of process equipment for mineral processing, petroleum refining, food and beverage processing, chemical processing and gas-fired power plants. In 2003 we added an office in Salt Lake City, UT. We now have a comprehensive offering of process equipment for nearly every processing industry.
